Julie Nicholls is a trained nurse, a Remedial Massage and Trager practitioner. She has also studied counselling skills and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).  She has been in practice since 1993 and has been teaching since 2000.
She can travel for groups of 4 or more for workshops or sessions.

Every Body~Mind Coaching workshop is unique; tailored to the group’s needs at the time whether at a physical, mental or emotional level.

Sessions are available for individuals or groups from 1 1/2h to 8h in the workplace

Yoga Meditation

Meditation is a very simple process and can be easily practiced. It is all about being present and aware, calming the mind, bringing yourself to a state of easeful rest and connecting with your source of true peace and contentment.

    * The purpose and benefits of meditation

    * Basic steps in learning to meditate

    * Managing and stilling the mind; use of the breath and a mantra

    * Underpinning philosophy and psychology from east and west

    * Awareness of pitfalls and distractions; the ways of the “ego” and how to handle them

This series of sessions provides an invaluable opportunity to learn through regular repeat  practice, supported by regular teaching sessions and the sharing of experiences, to ground and build the practice so that you can gain the real, lasting benefit. It naturally complements a physical yoga practice like Hatha or Ashtanga but is not specifically aligned with a particular spiritual practice. Rather the approach will suit people of all persuasions who wish to enhance and deepen their quality of life.

RELAXATION:

Developing Communication through Touch

During this basic Body Mind Coaching course we will explore:

  • Changing perspectives, trusting and listening
  • How and what do our hands feel
  • The impression of touch given and received
  • The basics of caring and sharing (good body work irrespective of type of treatment performed) - cover - open questions- being relaxed as a giver- listening – helping recall the positive
  • Learning some basic body work skills 

Participants will have a better understanding of the importance of touch as a form of communication, learn some massage and other body work skills which are enjoyable for them and the person they are with (partner/child/parent/patient/client) and can help improve their ability to relax and sense of wellbeing.

Learn how to communicate to improve the enjoyment of giving and receiving touch.

What is the Training & Support Programme?
The Training & Support Programme (TSP) is designed to equip parents of children with disabilities with simple massage skills that they can use at home with their children.  The TSP consists of 7, weekly, 1 hour sessions and an initial telephone consultation with the parent.   During each of the 7 sessions, parents will learn how to carry out gentle massage on their child.  The TSP is delivered by qualified massage therapists who also have been trained to deliver the TSP.

 What are the benefits of the Training & Support Programme?
The TSP has shown to help parents feel that they can do something to help their child.  It is also ‘time out’ for parents and child to spend quality time together.  It can increase the sense of closeness and bond between parent and child.  Gentle massage can be beneficial to the child in many different ways.  Benefits will vary from child to child.   Our research has shown that benefits may include improved bowel movements, sleep patterns, mobility, reduced muscle spasm, balance, and help children to relax.  Parents too find it relaxing.   Both parent and child enjoy giving and receiving massage respectively.

CURRENT Research into the Training & Support Programme
The TSP has been running for six years and is linked to a research programme based at Coventry University.  We have on-going research programmes to make sure that we continue to improve the TSP to meet the needs of parents / carers and their children.  WE NOW HAVE FUNDING TO CONDUCT RESEARCH AND DELIVER THE TSP TO PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY, aged 5 to 18 years.   The Programme will be delivered in SWINDON by a local therapist.  Thus, if you are a parent / carer of a child with Cerebral Palsy please contact either Laura, or myself Lesley on the numbers and emails provide below.  If you phone, we will call you back to reduce your costs. 

How much does the Training & Support Programme Cost?
If you take part in the research, the cost of attending the TSP is FREE.  However, we do ask you to complete a short questionnaire about the TSP.   If you would like to receive training without taking part in the research the cost is £40 per session.

Masks can transform people as they can connect with the audience who are watching.
For under confident students or adults the mask can act as a physical safety net between them.
The session is for actors and non-actors as the work is suitable for people with or without previous experience. 

Masks are charged with energy and the audience through the power of their imagination helps to bring them to life.
The illusion which masks create for an audience is that they appear to change expression in their presentation.

During the workshop I shall be using full neutral masks.
The work is inspiring amazing and very amusing to watch as every mask worn displays a different response.

Explore your vocal and verbal potential to develop greater flexibility using voice and speech.

The workshop will give you the chance to explore your vocal and verbal potential in a variety of contexts and develop greater flexibility.  We will explore posture resonance, breathing and definition in a relaxed informal way.  If you use your voice in a professional or social situation this workshop will be useful in looking at the theory and practice of voice. The workshop will encompass Discussion, Group Exercises, Role Play, Group interaction and Individual work if required.
